Join me for a day on Lough Corrib

I first cast a line on The Corrib back in 1989, since then I havent looked back visiting every year. Recently the call of the lough was too much and I am now living in the West. For more than 30 years I got to know the drifts, hatches and patterns that bring success, something you can only learn from being on the water. I have thoroughly enjoyed guiding on this magical water, meeting new people who have now become good friends and sharing my knowledge and seeing the smiles and laughter when they experience what Corrib has to offer.

This coming season, 2025 I will be guiding full time, message below for prices and availability.

Loughstyle Flyfishing

Just a few gorgeous looking Corrib browns up to 6lb, not uncommon. All methods work well, dries, buzzers and pulling wets.

Lunch

Lunch on an island is an important part of the day. It’s good to take a break, whether its a just a Ghillie Kettle brew, a packed lunch or an alfreso Corrib lunch cooked on an open fire, all can be arranged, your choice.

The Hatches

There are always some hatch happening on Corrib. The season usually kicks off with the duckfly, known to many as buzzers then followed by olives and mayflies. For many mayfly fishing is still the cream and the highlight of the season. However, in recent years the duckfly is fast becoming more popular. Come June, for those who like to fish at dawn the caenis can be productive, although can be the most challenging. July sees a second hatch of Mayfly but not in the numbers as is in May. August and September are months for sedges and daddly long legs.

Corrib Ferox

For me the ferox trout of Lough Corrib are the ultimate goal. My passion and love of these fish is bordering on the obsession. Through hundreds of hours on the lake I have had countless double figure specimans, many high teens and in 2012 caught the Corrib Record weighing 23lb 12oz.
