This week, I chat with Evo Smyth. Originally from Latvia, but for the last twenty years lived in the Midlands of Ireland. He is known by many for his fly-tying presence across social media and exhibiting at flyfishing shows. Like me, he has a passion for Irish Wet flies and gives his own twist to some of the well-known traditional patterns. Not only does he enjoy tying them, but it is also his favourite method when fishing the loughs, notably Corrib, Mask, Sheelin and Ree.

While I sat by the vice this week my thoughts turned back to my early years and the long forgotten fly patterns we used to tie.
They were so successful back in the day but I doubt if any of us have those patterns in our boxes today. This week's episode I talk of the changes I have seen over the years, many for the better and some not so. I'm sure some of you will relate to some of the things I talk about here, and bring back some fond memories.

This week I chat with Gavin Perry. He has fished the River Towi for Sea Trout and Salmon since a small boy. He tells how it all started fishing with his granddad from the age of 5. Last year he achieved his lif etime goal and dream of buying a beat on his beloved River Towi, the Pontgaredig Estate fishing. It has always been private but this season he will be open for guided nights for anyone wanting to experience the magic it has to offer. He also goes on to tell us of his fishing travels in search of sea trout in South America.
