This week's episode I head west to Papermill Fishery, Swansea. My guest created the fishery from sctrach and opened its doors to anglers 18 years ago and its still going strong today. He tells of the trials and tribulations and tasks of what it takes to run a successful fishery. He is also a passionate fisherman and tells of the competition scene he runs at this quality venue plus some funny stories along the way.
This week's episode, I tell the story of a secret lake I found during lockdown. Many years ago I fished with an old fella, Tommy Hayward, he told me when he was a young lad he and his dad carried a bucket with trout which they caught from the river to stock a hidden lake in the mountains. I found this hidden gem of a lake and in this episode I tell the story of my day fishing at Llyn Tommy.
This week's episode I chat with Keith McDonnell who like me has a passion for ferox and big brown trout. Living in Dublin, he travells the length and breadth of Ireland in search for his quarry using his favourite method of articulated streamer fishing. He has had success in both rivers and loughs and talks of the River Slaney and Boyne and Kylemore Lough. He recently set up ‘Impact Flyfishing’ sharing his knowledge and selling his personally tied articulated streamers.
This week's episode, I head to West Wales to chat with Richard Aeron Lougher Jones. Richard has a passion not only for tying fully dressed classic salmon flies he also has one of the largest collection of Victorian salmon flies in the country. The knowledge he has is incredible from the history of patterns, methods, materials, exotic feathers to hand crafted hooks. A true master in his craft.
This week's episode I chat with Dennis Williams an 88 year old fly fisherman from South Wales. He took me on my first day’s boat fishing as a young boy to Chew Valley lake. He was at the forefront of nymph and buzzer fishing back in the late 70s. He has fished with many great anglers back in the day notably Arthur Cove and Arthur Oglesby. He still fishes Chew and Rutland every season. He chats about seasons and anglers past and his love for the sea trout of South America and the salmon of Alaska.

As well as a passionate competition angler he is known by many as the face behind Llyn Clywedog. I chat with him at the new lakeside lodge at Clywedog. He talks of his background, his love of Clywedog and the competition scene, and tells us his top methods, lines and flies which has brought him so much success including getting individual gold at the Angling Water final at Rutland Water last season.

He talks about his love for sea trout which he has come into in recent years also his techniques he uses to catch Bass with great success. This week’s episode Ceri chats with Mark Underhill owner of Rainbow Valley Trout Farm at Tiverton where he brings on 350,000 rainbow trout for stocking lakes around the country including Anglian Water Reservoirs. Four years ago he also took over the fishing at Wimbleball reservoir which is now going from strength to strength. Plus, during lockdown he bought the George Inn at Brompton Regis only a mile from the lake perfect for anglers wanting a fishing break.
This weeks guest has represented her country at International level a dozen times and was team member in 2013 where Ireland had gold at Lough Caragh, County Kerry in 2013 where Ireland had gold at Lough Caragh, County Kerry. She talks of her local waters Lough Conn and Lough Cullen in County Mayo. She started her fishing career when she took over Healys Hotel on the shores of Lough Cullen in Pontoon back in 1989.
